Taj, Tigers & Diwali: A Journey Through North India
A more considered journey through North India — designed to offer contrast, depth, and a different perspective on the country.
From the energy of Delhi to the stillness of the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the landscapes of Ranthambore, and the atmosphere of Diwali celebrations, this journey moves through some of India’s most iconic regions — but in a way that feels intentional and balanced.
Rather than rushing between highlights, the experience allows space to take each place in — with time for both guided exploration and moments to step back and absorb it.
At the heart of the journey is a handpicked collection of stays — from heritage properties to carefully chosen retreats — each selected for its setting and connection to place.
This is not a fast-paced, checklist-style tour. You’ll travel as part of a small group of like-minded solo travellers — with the structure of a journey, but none of the rigidity of a traditional tour.
It’s India in contrast — vibrant, immersive, and deeply memorable.

Welcome to Delhi

Welcome to India.
On arrival into Delhi, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, where you can take time to settle in after your journey.
Delhi is a city of contrasts — layered, energetic, and often overwhelming at first. Today is simply about arriving, adjusting, and easing into the experience.
The remainder of the day is yours to rest or explore at your own pace

Stay: Delhi – The Oberoi Masters or similar
Day 2 | Monday 25 October 2027
Old & New Delhi

This morning, begin exploring Delhi through both its older and more modern sides.
In Old Delhi, the pace is immediate — narrow streets, local markets, and everyday life unfolding in close quarters. Spend time here taking in the energy of the city, where the character of Delhi is felt most strongly.
A visit to Raj Ghat offers a quieter moment of reflection before continuing into New Delhi, where the atmosphere shifts. Broad avenues, gardens, and colonial-era architecture reflect a different chapter in the city’s story.
Rather than focusing on a checklist of landmarks, the day is about understanding the contrasts that define Delhi — from Mughal influence to modern capital.
By evening, return to your hotel with time to unwind.

Day 3 | Tuesday 26 October 2027
Delhi → Jaipur

Today, travel to Jaipur — Rajasthan’s capital and one of India’s most characterful cities.
As the landscape shifts, so too does the atmosphere. Jaipur introduces a different rhythm — more open, more architectural, and shaped by its royal history.
Your stay here is in a traditional haveli — a heritage property that reflects Jaipur’s architectural character. Courtyards, quiet corners, and a central pool create a setting that feels both relaxed and distinctly local. This becomes your base for the next few days — a place to return to as the experience in Jaipur unfolds.
This evening, you’re welcomed into a local home for a private cooking experience and dinner. Spend time learning traditional recipes, working with regional ingredients, and sharing a meal together — offering a more personal introduction to Rajasthan’s culture and hospitality.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Alsisar Haveli or similar
Day 4 | Wednesday 27 October 2027
Jaipur — The Pink City

Today is spent exploring Jaipur — a city defined by its architecture, craftsmanship, and royal heritage.
Begin at the City Palace, where courtyards, galleries, and intricate details reflect the legacy of Jaipur’s former rulers. Nearby, the Jantar Mantar observatory offers a different perspective — a collection of 18th-century instruments designed to measure time and track the movement of the sun and stars.
From here, move through the old city, where the rhythm shifts again. Markets, textiles, and everyday life bring a more immediate sense of place, offering a contrast to the formality of the palaces.
In the afternoon, visit a local workshop to experience traditional block printing — a craft still practiced using techniques passed down through generations. From preparing natural dyes to pressing hand-carved blocks onto fabric, it’s a quiet, hands-on insight into Rajasthan’s artisan culture.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Alsisar Haveli or similar
Day 5 | Thursday 28 October 2027
Amber Fort at Dusk

The morning is intentionally unstructured — time to rest, explore further, or simply enjoy your surroundings.
At the haveli, this might mean a slow start to the day — breakfast in the courtyard, time by the pool, or settling into one of the quieter corners of the property. You may also choose to step out for a gentle wander through nearby streets or local boutiques, offering a relaxed way to experience Jaipur beyond the main sights.
Later in the day, travel beyond the city to Amber Fort, set among the hills outside Jaipur.
Arriving in the early evening, the atmosphere begins to shift. As the light softens, the colours of the sandstone walls change gradually, and the fort takes on a different character — quieter, more reflective.
After exploring its courtyards and interiors, remain as night falls and the fort is illuminated — a striking contrast to the earlier light.
The evening continues within the fort itself, where dinner is set in one of its historic spaces — an experience shaped as much by the setting as the meal itself.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Alsisar Haveli or similar
Day 6 | Friday 29 October 2027
Diwali in Jaipur — A Shift in Experience

The pace changes today.
After several days of movement and exploration, this part of the journey offers something different — time to slow down and experience Jaipur in a more personal way.
The day is yours to spend as you choose. You might return to the markets, relax at the haveli, or simply take in the atmosphere as the city prepares for the evening ahead.
As night falls, Diwali begins.
Celebrated across India, Diwali marks a time of renewal — where homes are lit, families gather, and everyday life takes on a different rhythm.
You’re welcomed into a local home for an intimate celebration — not as a spectator, but as part of the experience. Traditional rituals, shared moments, and the quiet significance of the festival offer a deeper perspective on India’s most important celebration.
Outside, the city glows with lamps and light, while fireworks mark the occasion across the skyline.
This is where the journey shifts — from observing India to becoming part of it.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Alsisar Haveli or similar
Day 7 | Saturday 30 October 2027
Jaipur → Ranthambore

This morning, we leave Jaipur behind and travel south towards Ranthambore National Park — where the pace and landscape begin to shift once again.
Once the hunting grounds of Jaipur’s former rulers, the region is now one of India’s most important wildlife reserves — where dry forest, lakes, and ancient ruins create a striking natural landscape.
On arrival, settle into your lodge and take in the quieter surroundings — a noticeable contrast to the energy of the cities.
The rest of the day is at leisure, with time to relax ahead of tomorrow’s early start.
Meals: B, L, D
Stay: Ranthambore Kothi
Day 8 | Sunday 31 October 2027
Ranthambore — Into the Wild

Today is spent exploring Ranthambore National Park on guided safaris.
Heading out early, the landscape reveals itself slowly — rocky ridges, open plains, and forested areas where wildlife moves quietly through the terrain. While tiger sightings are never guaranteed, time here is shaped as much by the landscape and stillness as it is by the wildlife itself.
Return to the lodge between drives, with time to rest before heading out again in the afternoon.
By the end of the day, you’ll have experienced a very different side of India — one defined by nature, stillness, and the unpredictability of the wild.
Meals: B, L, D
Stay: Ranthambore Kothi
Day 9 | Monday 01 November 2027
Ranthambore → Agra

After breakfast, continue your journey towards Agra.
Once the capital of the Mughal Empire, Agra is a city shaped by its architectural legacy — most notably the Taj Mahal, which you’ll experience tomorrow.
On arrival, check in and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure — a chance to rest and reset before the early start ahead.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Grand Mercure, Agra
Day 10 | Tuesday 02 November 2027
Taj Mahal at Sunrise

Begin the day early with a visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise.
Arriving in the softer morning light, the experience feels quieter and more considered — allowing you to take in the scale, detail, and atmosphere of one of the world’s most recognised landmarks without the intensity of the day.
After returning to the hotel for breakfast, continue to Agra Fort — a vast red sandstone complex that once served as the seat of Mughal power. Its courtyards, halls, and river views offer a different perspective on the history behind the Taj.
The afternoon and evening are yours to unwind.
Meals: B, D
Stay: Grand Mercure, Agra
