Frequently asked questions
If you’re new to travelling solo, it’s natural to have a few questions. Here are some of the most common things we’re asked.
Do I have to be single?
Not at all. People travel solo for many different reasons — whether you’re single, recently divorced, widowed, or simply don’t have a travel companion available.
If you’re travelling independently, you’ll feel right at home with SoloMade.
Will I feel comfortable if I don’t know anyone?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure before your first solo journey. Most guests arrive not knowing anyone, and the small group setting makes it easy to connect naturally — without pressure.
There’s a balance of shared experiences and personal time, so you can engage as much or as little as you like.
What if I prefer my own space or am more introverted?
That’s absolutely fine. SoloMade journeys are designed to offer both connection and independence. You’ll have your own room, time to explore on your own, and the option to join shared experiences when it feels right for you.
Who typically joins your journeys?
You’ll be travelling with like-minded solo travellers, often professionals who value a more considered way to explore. While everyone’s background is different, there’s usually a shared mindset around travel style and pace.
What is the average age on your tours?
Most of our travellers are typically between 35 and 65, though we don’t set any strict age limits. What matters more is a shared approach to travel.
How is this different from a traditional group tour?
Our journeys are intentionally small and more flexible. Rather than a rigid, fast-paced itinerary, we focus on a more considered pace, meaningful experiences, and time to enjoy each destination — without feeling rushed.
What level of fitness do I need?
Some journeys include light to moderate activity such as walking, cycling, or time outdoors. The level varies by trip, and in many cases, activities are optional, with alternatives available.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes — we do our best to accommodate dietary requirements wherever possible. Please let us know your needs at the time of booking so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
Are your tours suitable for people with limited mobility?
Some journeys may involve walking on uneven surfaces, stairs, or longer days of exploring. If you have any mobility concerns, we recommend getting in touch so we can discuss whether a particular journey is the right fit for you.
Will there be much free time?
Yes — each journey is designed with a balance of curated experiences and time to enjoy each destination at your own pace. You’ll have the flexibility to choose what suits you.
Will I have to share a room?
No — your own room is always included. There are no single supplements.
Are flights included?
International flights are not included, giving you flexibility to travel from your preferred location. We’re happy to assist with flight recommendations if needed.
What are your payment terms?
Payment terms vary by journey. Full details are provided at the time of booking, along with your confirmation.
Our standard terms can be viewed here:

If any itinerary changes are required, we ensure all alternatives are of equal or higher quality.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — travel insurance is required for all guests. You’ll need to provide a copy of your policy before your journey begins.
What happens after I apply?
Once you apply, we’ll be in touch to confirm availability and make sure the journey is the right fit for you. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions before confirming your place — there’s no obligation at this stage.
If you have any questions or would like to talk through a journey, we’re here to help — whenever the time feels right.
